Right off let me state that this has nothing to do with Ms Obama. She is the first lady and has the right to go to commencements and speak. She took no money personally.

This is about the last 5 words. "... surpassing the original estimate tenfold."

Then that wasn't an estimate based on reality, research or facts. That was a simple, pull-it-out-your-ass guess. By people who should know what these things cost. By people who tell us how smart they are and how much smarter they are than the rest of us.

Californians should demand a line by line audit of the event. Where was 1+ million spent? Who spent it? On what? And then demand that the people who simply proved to be totally incompetent be fired. To think that this kind of "estimatin'" is allowed at a University is astounding.

Would a student be able to get 10% of a math final and continue to go to school there?

Just keep this in mind when boorokrats start estimating what something like, I dunno, healthcare for everyone for instance, is discussed. And 'estimates' start flowing.
