Alana in Classic Black on Mercer Island

Part of our little morning shoot a week ago or so. Alana is lit with a lot of overcast light which is soft and provides nearly shadowless light. I added a Canon 430 in a 33" umbrella (shoot thru) and aimed it at her torso - shoulder high. Setting the power on 1/4 it was able to be a half stop over the ambient and still recycle fairly quickly. It was starting to get a little more overcast and dark as we shot this.

Adding a little light (and a slight shadow) gives the portrait a bit more punch, and kills the shadows under eyes and chin.
