The guy was a schizophrenic.
Should we lock all of them up?
He read Mein Kampf.
Should we burn the book?
He talked to himself.
Should all who talk to themselves be incarcertated.
And do not think for a minute that this is political. That is the loss here.
What it was, was incompetence by the Pima County Sheriff's Office. Incompetence of the school he attended. His parents and friends and others let him down by not figuring out what he was about - and not having the courage to face it.
He didnt listen to Talk Radio, or Fox News, or read Facebook.
So while the incompetent, terribly power hungry politicos and idealogues continue to spew, the real problem of a society not able to deal with mental health issues remains.
Blame guns.
Blame Palin.
Blame Beck or McCain or the guy down the road.
It is as rational as blaming the consistency of peanut butter... and it is way more fracturing of out society. Calling people murderers - even by proxy - is not going to open their hearts and minds. It will only steel their resolve.
I am ashamed of the media, the totally incompetent and self absorbed sheriff of Pima county, the NYT and the people in the video above.
Some guy named Nidal shot 13 people at Fort Hood while shouting Allah Akhbar... where were the concerns over what he read and listened to? No one even came close to asking. They knew, but it wasn't relevant to the narrative.
I don't remember the moment of silence, or when the President did a memorial service for them.
Selective mourning is as transparent as selective offense.
Terrible, terrible media we have in this country. Terrible.
