ProPhotoResource.com - Maximizing A Minimalist Approach

Wow. I got a featured slot on ProPhotoResource. That's pretty cool.
ProPhotoResource.com - Maximizing A Minimalist Approach:
"I start each shot with decisions based on what I want to say about the subject. What do I want the image to convey? What will the result be. And at this stage of shooting, many of my post decisions are made before the setup begins. I see the image presentation in my head. What it looks like as a print. This pre visualization starts the process of deciding what the light will be. If I have limited myself to minimal gear, I will find the ways to make it work.

BTW, one of the things I see that hampers young photographers is the 'Can't do that' of forced stagnation. You know what I mean... 'I cain't do that because I only have one light.' 'I cain't do that because I only have 6 lights, and I need 7.' 'I don't have the newest camera and it has this thing that I need, so I cain't do that.' There are so many difficulties in the creative process. Placing arbitrary complications just slows us down. Of course you can't do everything you may want to do, but with minimal gear you can make photographs. And capture portraits. And have fun."
